It is well known blueberries require a more acidic soil (lower pH) to reach an optimum level of production. This is due to the higher amounts of iron and manganese blueberry plants require, which are often most available in a lower pH soil environment. Thus, using a foliar fertiliser which contains the correct amount of iron and manganese that blueberry plants typically require, allows you as a gardener/orchardist to optimally grow blueberries in a neutral or even slightly higher than neutral pH.

It was also found that a foliar application of certain trace minerals leads to an increase of fruit firmness and also increased antioxidant properties within the fruit, which results in a higher quality blueberry.
